The Reason Is Us is a novel shaped by a life lived in transit, between airports and hotels, ambition and exhaustion, escape and reckoning. When two strangers, each carrying the aftermath of experiences they never expected to survive, find themselves forced to pause, the story turns inward. What follows isn’t a dramatic reinvention, but a deeply human unraveling of defenses built over years of movement and self-reliance.
Told through dual perspectives, the novel explores how both characters navigate tense moments, fractured trust, and the discomfort of staying present when leaving would be easier. Each must confront the cost of the lives they’ve built and the versions of themselves they’ve protected. Their connection unfolds slowly, not as rescue, but as recognition, mirroring the ways people heal in parallel before they ever heal together.
